So to make matters worse with the American Idol finale, the two original songs, one of which will be the first single by whoever wins? Complete ass. I mean, makes "A Moment Like This" seem the paragon of the songwriting art ass. Ass enough to give posteriors everywhere a bad name.
Thankfully, the trend seems to be that the singles sell a lot but don't get wide airplay. Keep your fingers crossed.

oh, btw, I want to personally thank you and the missus for that gottverdammt "Baby Mama" song. Easily one of the worst things ever to assault my eardrums, and I have your slavish devotion to that horrid show to thank.
Okay, maybe there are 39,999,998 other people more responsible. But rest assured I'll be giving them a piece of my mind once I'm done with you. Now off to write my series of Abe Simpsonesque letters to the editors.
Sandals -- the vacation company, not the shoe -- is using "Moment Like This" in its commercials. Even better, someone other than Kelly Clarkson is singing it. The first time it came on Jenny and I had the same "What the f**k is this crap?" reaction, which I frequently have when hearing any of the AI singles.
That said, "Since You've Been Gone" is kind of catchy. If you've seen the video though, I have one question: Why would anyone situate a perfectly nice loft apartment on top of a rock club? Sure, she trashed the place, but I figure the reverberations from below on a decent Friday night have to do at least that much damage to the breakables.
I think I've successfully blocked whatever "Baby Mama" song you're talking about Greg, as it doesn't ring a bell. So ha!
I've seen those Sandals commercials, too, though I was less surprised by its use. The best that song should have ever aspired to was use as a commercial jingle. Now that I think of it, Disney uses it in some of their ads, too. Also a non-Kelly version. Not that she sees any of the royalties, I'm sure.
